Mkhulu Maintenance Projects (PTY) Ltd has been under its present name since its dawning in 2014. Owned and founded by Marcelino Shane Petersen, a young coloured individual that is from a previously disadvantaged background who decided to take the step of Faith and follow his passion to become a player in the Construction industry. The name “Mkhulu” derives from a Xhosa or Zulu word which literally means “Grandfather”. The word is often used as a respectful title to any elderly person or a person held in high regard. The name “Mkhulu” was carefully chosen and it perfectly describes our types of work and services, which are always of the upmost quality (sign of respect) that we offer to our clients (person/s we hold high in regard).

more than just work
Mkhulu Maintenance Projects employs both skilled and unskilled workforce as and when needed. In this way we play our part in assisting the struggle to alleviate unemployment and giving our people the opportunity to work and provide for their families and loved ones.
We also have an informal program running in our business whereby the skilled workforce lets an unskilled worker/s shadow him/her for a few days to gain experience in the more skilled parts of the construction environment i.e. painting, tiling, laminate flooring and but not limited to certain artisan work. This way we build and strengthen the younger generations to become upskilled in the scarce skills of the construction industry and provide them with certain skills to become better at what they do and apply for better employment opportunities in future thus assisting them to have a better quality of life God providing.
